Four of Wands
Symbols in the artwork
Between the Four of Wands, there are flowers and grapes, and bright canopy decorations hanging. Below them, two figures are looking at each other while holding bouquets. In the background, a table with gathered people and a castle are visible. The decorated four pillars suggest a place to rest together, and the bouquets and gathering suggest a time to share joy. This scene does not predict the end of a marriage or relationship. This card is about comfortably gathering and celebrating what has been accomplished together.
Sources and interpretation
The original describes peace, harmony, and prosperity, and the reversed card also maintains a positive meaning. The instability of belonging and conflict for the reversed card on this site follow modern interpretations.

Upright
Celebration and achievement · Home and community · Stable belonging
Reflect on what you have accomplished so far, and share your gratitude.
Core meaning
The Four of Wands symbolizes the joy of celebrating achievements, peaceful home life, and a sense of stability within a community. The important meaning is the happiness enjoyed in a place where one can rest comfortably.
The four wands connected by flowers remind us that a place to stay together is not built by individual strength alone. A comfortable relationship is built by small actions of keeping promises and caring for one another. Stability does not mean that all problems disappear. Try to create time to rest together, and continue the ways you have been helpful to each other.
What to keep in mind
Are you hiding things that are uncomfortable because you don't want to break a good atmosphere? To live comfortably together, you must be able to talk about what is needed, not just what you are grateful for.
One small step today
Recall one thing you were grateful for recently and express it specifically to that person. Also, make time today for a short rest for yourself.
A question to consider
Who was with me in moments of comfort, and what was helpful?
A thought for today
Just sharing small joys can make today a little warmer.
Reversed
Unstable sense of belonging · Conflict within the community · Lack of support
If you feel uneasy in a place that should be comfortable, speak up about what you need.
Core meaning
The Four of Wands reversed follows the modern interpretation of lacking support or belonging, or the harmony of home and community being shaken. In the original Waite, the reversed card retains a positive meaning, so we do not present both interpretations as the same thing.
You might have been so busy moving on to the next thing right after finishing one that you didn't have time to reflect on yourself. If you take familiar comfort for granted, it's easy to overlook the people who worked for it. This card does not mean that your home or relationship is falling apart. It suggests finding a way to rest and celebrate that suits you, and readjusting the promises you make together.
What to keep in mind
Do not take it as a personal issue that you cannot naturally fit in. Instead of constantly compromising for the sake of the atmosphere, consider if you can change the space, time, or your role.
One small step today
Think of one uncomfortable situation and write down in one sentence what you needed. Discuss whether you can change one thing among space, time, or role.
A question to consider
What is needed to feel comfortable here? What can we change together?
A thought for today
It is okay to find a way for yourself to rest comfortably.
Tarot offers a way to reflect on yourself through its symbols. Read it as a point of reference, not a certain prediction of the future or another person's feelings.
